Join us on the seaside in Tuscany for a painting workshop with artist Julia Barminova! The class is perfect for painters at any skill level, and for those who want to immerse themselves in the world of art for one day.
This daylong watercolor painting workshop with Julia Barminova is hosted by A. Gallo Colors and includes a morning indoor masterclass followed by a 3 course lunch at Resort Capalpio, and an afternoon plein-air painting session in Porto Ercole and a good-bye aperitivo!
This workshop will focus on how to paint realistic sea in watercolour, transparent water, waves and reflection marine watercolour – textured fishing boats, sailing in action, ocean waves breaking on coastal rocks, calm waters of smaller bays, yachts in the marina. We will learn to use graphic mechanisms that allow us to represent the sea with its foam, reflections, transparencies.

A. Gallo Colors is happy to provide our handmade Italian watercolors to the participants. Everyone will take home samples of the colors used during the workshop, along with an A. Gallo canvas bag and artisan Tintoretto brush. You will also have a special discount to use at our pop up store at the Resort.
Julia Barminova is a watercolour artist based in Portugal who has visited more than 150 different port cities over the world sourcing inspiration for new seascapes. Julia works in watercolour technique, combining the classical school with her own exclusive methods. Since 2020 Julia has trained sailing boats herself and has been on expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic.

Painting the Light of Umbria

Join Alex Hillkurtz for an extended stay in Assisi, Italy. Combining studio and plein air sessions, we’ll explore the light and shadows, architecture, and mood of this magical city and its evocative landscapes. Each day we’ll paint together, beginning with simple exercises, building a strong foundation in watercolor in order to create beautiful paintings and sketches.
Lessons will include perspective, composition, color mixing, infusing mood and emotion in our paintings, and much more. A. Gallo Colors will offer the possibility to participate in a paintmaking workshop to Alex Hillkurtz’s students during their residency.
