Vivianite - Half pan
Vivianite - Half pan
Vivianite, genuine | Excellent Lightfastness | Transparent
Vivianite is a rare blue-gray natural mineral pigment. In watercolor this color is granulating and has mineral texture. Vivianite is found in organic, phosphate-rich environments, such as peat bogs and clay beds or in crystal form often inside fossil shells or attached to fossil bone. The crystalline and earthy forms of vivianite have been used as a blue color since antiquity. Limited availability.
Made by hand in Assisi, our watercolors are crafted according to a traditional recipe of raw pigments, gum arabic, local honey, rosemary essential oil and a wetting agent. This artisanal process creates a very pigmented and luminous paint that activates beautifully when wet.
